Acceptance and Change

Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing issues, problems with anxiety or depression, or an overall feeling of being unhealthy or "empty" feelings. Other times, it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life such as a divorce or work transition.
Our goal is to help you 'Do What Works for a Life Worth Living'. We will help you make lasting changes that improve your relationships, regulate your emotions, make better decisions, and cope with crisis. Make joy part of your life once again - or for the first time.
  • Individual Counseling

When specific issues or conditions begin to cause distress and interfere with a person's normal activities, it may be time to seek therapy.  A therapist can  serve as a listening ear, help identify underlying causes of symptoms, and provide specific strategies and techniques for change. Through therapy, people gather tools to manage symptoms, alleviate stress, and face challenges.

  • Relationship Counseling

We work with people in relationships: couples, parents, and others who want to be in a relationship. Sometimes the problems in a relationship may seem too overwhelming  to handle on your own. In that case, it’s important to reach out together for help. Relationship therapy can help you learn how to work through your differences, communicate better and solve challenges in the relationship.

  • Group Therapy

Typically, groups have up to eight participants, and a group leader. Our groups are designed to teach a skill set of coping tools you can use in everyday life situations.

  • In-Service Presentations - For groups, agencies, and businesses on subjects including Effective Confrontation, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Effective Relationships.

  • Consultation to the Professional - For mental health professionals wanting guidance in building & maintaining their own DBT Consult, a step crucial in forming their own DBT team.  We also offer a study group for professionals who wish to work through Marha Linehan's text with a DBT therapist who has over 15 years of experience in the modality.

Can Therapy or Counseling Really Work?

Yes, it can! A counselor can assist you in learning about yourself and help you acquire coping techniques to deal with the problems you are facing.

How long does Therapy take to work?

There is no set time. A person may come to counseling once or twice or may choose to continue counseling until they have met their goals for life improvement. The frequency and duration of therapy will depend largely on your needs, treatment goals, and progress.
